About the wine
A full bodied and elegant red wine from the Barolo zone in the Langhe area in Piemonte made by the great Aldo Conterno from the beautifull village Monforte d'Alba. The wine is made of 100% Nebbiolo grapes and originate from the Colonello vineyard in the Bussia Soprana area.

The new wine remains inside stainless steel vats for 3 to 5 months, and it undergoes several decantings before being put into big Slavonian oak barrels, where it is left ageing for 28 to 30
months; then, it will be bottled.

Pairs very well with stewed meat like brassato or drink with mushrooms
and white truffle seasoned meals.

Drinktemperature is 16-17° C. Drink until 25 - 30 years after the year of production.

Producer Information
The winery of Aldo Contero is located in Monforte d’Alba in the Langhe area in Piemonte. Aldo Conterno is considered as one the best winemakers in this area.

Aldo Contero is member of the famous Conterno wine making family. He is the son of Giacomo Conterno and the brother of Giovanni Conterno. Giovanni Conterno took over the winery of Giacomo Conterno, where Aldo Conterno went on, on his own since 1969.

The style of Aldo Conterno is different than the ultra traditional styled Giacomo Conterno.

The winery is located in the Bussia hamlet in the village Monforte d’Alba. Aldo Conterno has three sons, Franco, Stefano and Giacomo who are trying to carry on the winery into the future.

Aldo Conterno owns three famous vineyards in the Bussia zone: Romirasco, Collonello and Cicala. The Nebbiolo from these vineyards are vinified separately to express the character of the three different vineyards.

Aldo Conterno makes a regular Barolo, but also single vineyards like Barolo Cicala and Barolo Collonello. Barolo Romirasco is only made, when Aldo Conterno does not make the Barolo Bussia Riserva. The Barolo Bussia Riserva is a monumental wine and is only made in the very best vintages. This is a mix of the best fruit of all the vineyards. However, the Romirasco vineyard is so small, that when Aldo decides to make a Barolo Bussia Riserva, he will not be able to make a separate Barolo Romirasco.

Next to Barolo, Aldo Conterno also makes typical Langhe wines, like the Langhe Nebbiolo, Barbera d'Alba and Dolcetto d'Alba.

Wine lovers who are aiming for high quality wines, that reflect the typicity of the Langhe area should not overlook Aldo Conterno's wines.
